Quick Start

LeadUp anchors every step to your event time. When your event time changes, every step automatically shifts. No recalculating, no broken schedules.

Create Your First Event

  1. Tap the + Add Event button at the bottom
  2. Enter the event name and time (e.g., "Flight to NYC" at 8:00 AM)
  3. Tap Save

Add Steps

  1. Tap Add Next Step or Add First Step
  2. Enter the step name (e.g., "Leave for airport")
  3. Choose Before or After and set the time offset
  4. For "2 hours before the flight," select Before and set 0 days, 2 hrs, 0 min
  5. Tap Save
Pro Tip: View all your steps on the Timeline screen. Steps from different events appear color-coded and sorted by time, like a subway map for your day.

Understanding Before and After

LeadUp uses relative time instead of absolute time. This is what makes everything auto-shift.

What is "Before"?

Before means a step happens before the event. When creating a step, you choose "Before" and set how far in advance.

What is "After"?

After means a step happens after the event.

The Magic: Auto-Shift

When you change your event time, every step automatically recalculates based on its Before/After offset.

Example: Your flight moves from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM (+1 hour).

Free vs. LeadUp Pro

What's Included Free?

What's in LeadUp Pro ($4.99 one-time, launch price)?

Note: When you share an event, recipients can view and import it for free. Pro is only required to create/share, not to receive.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What counts as an "active" event?

An event is "active" if either the event itself or any of its steps are in the future. Once all steps have passed, it no longer counts toward your free tier limit.

Q: Can I pause an event?

Yes! Paused events don't count toward your free tier limit. Tap the event, then tap "Pause Event" from the menu.

Q: How do I duplicate an event?

Duplicating requires LeadUp Pro. Tap the event, then tap "Duplicate Event." The copy includes all steps with the same Before/After offsets, so you just need to set the new event time.

Q: How do I share an event with someone?

Sharing requires LeadUp Pro. Tap the event, then tap the share button. Choose AirDrop, Messages, Mail, or another app. The recipient gets a .leadup file they can import (free users can import).

Q: Can I link LeadUp to my calendar?

Yes! When creating or editing an event, tap "Link to Calendar Event" and choose an event from your calendar. If the calendar event time changes, LeadUp can update automatically.

Q: Does LeadUp work offline?

Absolutely. LeadUp is fully offline and private. All your data stays on your device. Optionally, you can back up to your iCloud Drive (your personal cloud, not our servers).

Q: What happens to my Pro status if I reinstall the app?

Your Pro purchase is tied to your Apple ID. After reinstalling, tap "Restore Purchases" in Settings to restore your Pro status.

Q: Can I use LeadUp on multiple devices?

Yes! Your Pro purchase works on all devices using the same Apple ID. For data sync, you can use iCloud backup/restore from the Settings screen.

Q: Does LeadUp have subscriptions or ads?

No. LeadUp is a one-time purchase with no subscriptions, no ads, and no tracking.

Notifications & Reminders

LeadUp sends smart notifications that include event context and quick actions.

What's in a Notification?

Smart Snoozing: When you snooze a step, LeadUp shows "Snoozed until [time]" status. The step doesn't disappear — you always know when it'll remind you again.

Troubleshooting

Notifications Aren't Appearing

  1. Check iOS Settings → Notifications → LeadUp → ensure "Allow Notifications" is ON
  2. Ensure Notification Style is set to "Alerts" (not "None" or "Banners only")
  3. Check that your event/step times are in the future
  4. Note: iOS limits total scheduled notifications. If you have many events, some distant notifications may not schedule until closer to their time.

Calendar Permission Issues

  1. Go to iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars
  2. Find LeadUp in the list and ensure it's toggled ON
  3. Return to LeadUp and try linking a calendar event again

Can't Create More Events (Free Tier)

You've reached the 2 active event limit. Options:

Restore Purchases Not Working

  1. Ensure you're signed in to the same Apple ID you used to purchase
  2. Check your internet connection
  3. Go to Settings → tap "Restore Purchases"
  4. Wait up to 30 seconds for verification
  5. If still not working, restart the app and try again

Lost My Data After Reinstalling

If you used iCloud backup:

  1. Open LeadUp → Settings
  2. Tap "Restore from iCloud"
  3. Your most recent backup will be restored

If you didn't enable iCloud backup, your local data is lost on reinstall. We recommend enabling iCloud backup in Settings to prevent this.

Prevention: Enable iCloud backup in Settings → Backup & Restore. Your events automatically back up to your personal iCloud Drive.
